Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park

Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park is Florida’s largest park.  It’s also a much too-well-kept secret!  So, please spread the word about this incredible place.  Check out the park facts and suggestions below, and visit the park website, at Fakahatchee Strand.  And join the vital Citizens Support Organization, “Friends of Fakahatchee, Inc.”  Members of “Friends” will be volunteering to support runners on race day and will be leading special tours and programs in the park for family and friends of runners.  Be sure to thank the volunteers and ask how you can help support and preserve this Florida natural treasure.

What the Fak?
And check out all the attached information about the history of the park, “top 10” things to do, nearby walking trails and park facts.

“Friends of Fakahatchee”

Did you know that donations made directly to the Park do not stay with Fakahatchee?  In Florida, such donations are forwarded to the state and used in a general fund in support of all state parks.  However, all dollars donated to the Citizens Support Organization, “Friends of Fakahatchee, Inc.”, stay here in direct support of the Fakahatchee and it's programs.  My family has joined the “Friends” and strongly urges you to do the same.  Individual membership is $20; family membership is $30.  (Other membership levels are available, too.)  Read all about “Friends of Fakahatchee” and their terrific work at the organization website, www.friendsoffakahatchee.org.
