Runners: Create Your Fundraising Campaign
Runners are encouraged to promote fundraising in support of the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. Donations go to "Friends of Fakahatchee", the 501(c)(3) Citizens Support Organization, which allows all funds to remain with the park. (Donations made directly to the park, itself, must by law be forwarded to a general state park fund for distribution to all parks in the system.) "Friends of Fakahatchee"--and Citizen Support Organizations like it--exist to directly support their park alone. In our case, "Friends" actively helps to preserve the Fakahatchee's unique ecology and educate the public about its importance. “Friends of Fakahatchee” creates and conducts programs for the public, purchases equipment and services for which the park has the need but no budget, volunteers throughout the park in many capacities during the year and will be very active on race day volunteering at aid stations and in other positions throughout the weekend. Remember that raising three (3) times your paid entry fee in donations and/or “Friends of Fakahatchee” membership dues will result in a refund of your entire race registration fee.
Beginning your fundraising campaign in support of “The Fak” is easy. As a registered runner, you already have a fundraising "account" set-up in your name. When someone donates online, ask them to look up your name in the "Optional Fundraiser Search" box at the top of the page, then simply donate. You will be credited automatically.
Some fundraisers prefer to raise money under a pseudonym or team name with others. You have the option of doing so. Create a new fundraising account under a different name by clicking on the link below and following the prompts. Then be sure to tell your donors to select this new name and not your own from the list in the "Optional Fundraiser Search" box.
Thanks for your support.
